Sarah Burton started working with clay at school in the 1980’s and has made pots ever since. Sarah continued to make pots in her spare time whilst pursuing a career as a Business/Administration Manager in the NHS and local authorities. In 2011 she gave up the day job to become a full-time potter making contemporary decorative ceramic bowls and vases, fish, pears and dragons – decorated with texture and colourful glazes. Sarah is a member of Design Nation, Nottingham Society of Artists and Associate Member of the Craft Potter’s Association. Sarah also teaches pottery to adults.

SARAH BURTON – STUDIO

Sarah works in her purpose built studio in her back garden. There are lots of windows and a skylight so it is always very light and cheerful, a lovely place to be creative and produce pots.

SARAH BURTON – WORK

Inspired by the sea, landscapes and organic forms, each vessel is unique and made using traditional pottery techniques of throwing, slabbing and coiling. Sarah makes and decorates each pot by hand and fires them in an electric kiln. Sarah’s ceramics are sold in galleries, craft fairs, exhibitions and online.
