SallyAnn in studio - Sally BrackettI trained as a teacher of Art and Design and spent thirty seven years working in Nottinghamshire Schools teaching 11 – 18 year olds and loved every minute of it. When I retired I wanted to rekindle my own Artistic skills and ideas. I produced detailed drawing of wildlife and landscapes and started experimenting with mixed media and recycled materials. I use pen and ink and explore different surfaces including old maps and book pages and have now developed my own unique collage technique using pen and ink on tissue paper.

I have exhibited my work widely, produced many commissions (including ones to Australia and Canada), have taken part in Sky Landscape Artist of the Year 2017 and 2018, run various workshops for Art groups, have worked with schools on Arts Festivals and taken part in Notts Open Studios for several years and Patchings International Art Festival.

SALLYANN BRACKETT’S STUDIO

My studio is a spare bedroom in my house. It is equipped with all my materials, reference books and my computer for research. I can spend several hours working on various parts of a picture, each a separate piece until it is all collaged together onto a canvas background.

SALLYANN BRACKETT’S WORK

My work is based on the natural world. It is pen & ink on tissue paper which is then collaged onto a background canvas. Old maps and book pages can be used in the background. Highlights and hints of colour are added afterwards using watercolours and acrylics.
