Drawings and watercolours expressing the powerful shifting forms and colours of the natural world.

I was born and grew up in Derby. I began my art education there at the Joseph Wright School of Art. I later attended Derby College of Art, then the Royal College of Art in London, where I graduated in Printmaking in 1966. My more recent work mainly uses ink, pencil or watercolour, and I have pursued my printmaking interests through woodcuts. I usually work outdoors, responding to the natural environment and changing weather conditions. I also studied Horticulture at Brackenhurst College where I was awarded a Diploma with distinction in 1999. I have designed and planned several gardens.
