ABOUT DIANE SANDERS
Di was born and grew up in London. She attended the University of Keele in Staffordshire where she gained a degree in Biology and went on to have a long career in teaching. A keen horse-rider for many years, she retired with her husband eight years ago to live in a rural village on the Notts/Lincs border, where she was invited to join a local art group, and has enjoyed watercolour painting ever since. Watercolour skills have been developed through the tutor at the local art group, SAA workshops, on-line courses, looking at the work of other artists and books by a variety of artists.
DIANE SANDERS – STUDIO
Crowe’s Cottage Studio is a small summer house in quite a large garden with many trees and plants and a large population of wild birds, as well as our hens and a cockerel called Barry.
It is well insulated with solar panels providing the energy for lighting and there is a hot air heating system, which makes it cosy all year round. On warm days there is the opportunity to work outside.
DIANE SANDERS – WORK
Di’s main area of interest is the natural world, often painting water-colours of plants and animals and rural scenes from the area where she lives. She takes photos on her camera and collects plant specimens when out dog-walking. She may bring plants from the garden into the studio or go out with a sketch book, or paint en plein.
