Julie Vernon is an award winning artist producing contemporary mosaic artwork and sculpture. She established her practice in 2010 following a successful career in marketing and taking time out to raise a family. She works on a range of private and public commissions, gets involved in schools and community arts projects and runs a successful programme of workshops from her Edwalton studio.

JULIE VERNON – STUDIO

Initially I started working around the kitchen table but as commissions grew larger in size I converted my garden garage into a light and airy studio with a vaulted ceiling, velux windows and wide French doors. I really appreciate my studio space, being able to leave materials out and projects in progress.

JULIE VERNON – WORK

I’m largely inspired by nature, the textures and colours of the changing landscape. I like to work in an abstract style creating patterns and movement within my work and building the design as I go along. I combine a wide mix of materials from natural marble and slate through to glass, ceramic and vintage porcelain finds. Every artwork is original and can never be repeated exactly.

4.00pm Instagram live: I’ll be chatting to lace artist JC Middlebrook – a virtual studio visit Cotgrave.

Sunday 16th May:

2.30pm Instagram live: I’ll be chatting to potter Sarah Burton – a virtual studio visit to Radcliffe on Trent.
4.00pm Instagram live: Interested in having a go at mosaics – I’ll be showing you my new mosaic kits.
