JC Middlebrook makes contemporary machine-made lace in her Nottinghamshire studio. A keen researcher of the lacemaking industry in Nottingham, Jayne has been inspired by historical motif and technique. The technical challenge of refining the lace structure is what she finds most exciting. Jayne has drawn on these influences and challenges to create a range of fashion and home accessories.
JC MIDDLEBROOK – STUDIO
The JC Middlebrook studio is an outbuilding converted when she moved in to her Cotgrave home – the studio houses Jayne’s machines, work tables and textile stores. It’s a bright and airy space overlooking the garden.
JC MIDDLEBROOK – WORK
JC Middlebrook makes embroidered lace, designed by hand and created using computer software and embroidery machines. Jayne uses text within her lace to weave stories and tell tales inspired by her research into local and social history.
If you are interested in this work, please contact the artist directly through the links above.
