Open Studios Notts 2020 – a response to the Coronavirus

So … the Coronavirus has struck and there’s no way of avoiding its immediate impact on many events and small creative businesses.  Inevitably this is bad news for OSNotts, but we hope we can create good news as well!

The bad news is – unfortunately there is no way that OSNotts promoted events can run. The health and well-being of artists & makers and the visiting public takes absolute precedence – and in line with government advice we must avoid all unnecessary social contact.

However, the good news is – we are looking to replace some of the physical events with some virtual events.

OSNotts 2020 - virtual eventsBringing artists into view’ is our mission statement and we want to continue to do that and try to contribute some positivity to the Nottinghamshire community at a particularly difficult time. There will be many people stuck at home and looking on-line for things to do – we can offer some engagement with visual arts in the form of:

  • lovely things to look at,
  • fun things to create,
  • creative conversations,
  • the building of relationships between artists and the public.

So, we are going to run a series of OSNotts 2020 Virtual Events – over the coming weeks (linked to the original event dates), we will post information about artists and their practices on our OSNotts website and on our social media channels and encourage you to engage virtually with the artists and their work. The information will include images and short videos of their studios, examples of their work, glimpses of artists & makers activities (as videos & worksheets – hopefully inspiring people to try things at home), plus engagement on social media.

Finally, a heartfelt wish to everyone to keep well, look out for yourselves, family, friends and neighbours – and keep washing  those hands!
