Born in Halifax, Anna studied sculpture at St. Martin’s School of Art under the influence of Anthony Caro. After a short career in teaching she retrained to work in Mental Health but continued nonetheless to produce her own art including painting and contemporary silver jewellery. Recently she set up her own pottery workshop and now devotes herself full time to making and developing her skills as a ceramic artist.

Anna works from a purpose built pottery in the garden of her home in Tollerton.

My inspiration comes from a fascination with colour and surface pattern. I design juxtaposing shape line and flat colour taking into account the 3D contour of the pot and the constraints of a round or curved surface. I take risks, push things to the edge, every mistake teaches me something.
