The two Surface Gallery Artists Open Studio days in May were cancelled, and the planned Studio Artists’ April group show ‘Ritual’ had to be postponed until further notice…
All the studio Artists’ are looking forward to the gallery’s planned re-opening in August. Friday 7th August 2020 (from 6pm) is the new proposed launch night for ‘Ritual‘, showing in the main ground floor space at Surface Gallery for 2 weeks (8-22 August). This will be a great chance to meet some of Surface Gallery’s Studio Artists (with social distancing measures in place), and to see an exciting show of their current varied responses to the theme ‘Ritual’. The gallery is also celebrating its 21st year.
The Surface Gallery Studio Artists are:

The ‘Ritual’ Exhibition will include work by the artists of studios 1, 3 and 5-9. In addition there will be work by former studio artists Melvyn James (who very sadly died in June) and Ian Cutmore.

Surface Gallery – Studio 6
Printmaker and dabbler in wooden constructions and occasional workshops for the public. During lockdown I have had to relocate and ‘lock in’ to THE garden shed and recreate workshop therein (see photos and video clips). I will be posting recent projects, commissions, online workshops and work for sale as soon as I get more familiar with technology and social media (like elders everywhere!).

GERRY HENEGAN-BARR (Studio 9)
Surface Gallery – Studio 9
Gerry is a 3D mixed media Artist, who regularly exhibits work in Nottingham & Derby.
She is also a qualified Art Therapist and a Holistic Health practitioner. She has worked part time for Adult Social Services for over 30 years, and is currently working as a frontline worker 2 days a week.
GERRY HENEGAN-BARR – STUDIO
Gerry usually works from Studio 9 in Surface Gallery, Nottingham. Like other UK galleries, Surface temporarily closed in March.
During the Lockdown, Gerry has been working outdoors at home.
