Recognised as one of the top jewellery designers in the UK, David studied silversmithing and jewellery in Liverpool before developing his creative talents by working with artisan jewellers across the world, learning a vast array of techniques and processes over a seven year period before returning home to the UK in 1988. He has spent his working career in Nottinghamshire: his jewellery is hand manufactured at his Thoresby workshop and gallery.
DAVID FOWKES JEWELLERY – STUDIO
David works at his dedicated UK gallery and workshop, based in a Grade I listed Coach House set in Thoresby Park, Nottinghamshire. All jewellery is hand made on site by his talented Goldsmiths.
David is 1 of 12 artists who was featured in an exhibition of photographs (by Neil Pledger) showing behind-the-scenes glimpses into the working worlds of a sample of Nottinghamshire artists and makers. Curated by Inspire: Culture Learning & Libraries to accompany the Open Studios Notts events, the exhibition was made available online from 24 April to 4 June, 2020.

The iconic work of David Fowkes is characterised by creative contemporary designs combined with high quality craftsmanship. David and his team specialise in unique handcrafted gemstone jewellery, combining speciality-cut gemstones with precious metals. However, the majority of David’s work focuses on the creation of unique pieces to client commission. A David Fowkes piece is unique, bespoke, infinitely wearable, and an investment in one’s self.
