Drawing, painting and collage forming intense abstractions, a result of spontaneous observation, memory and work process.
My training started early at the Joseph Wright – Junior Art School in Derby. At 16 I went to Derby College of Art. In 1958 I became a student at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 1961. My first teaching employment was at Derby College of Art from 1961 to 1964 and from there I became a lecturer, then senior lecturer at Nottingham College of Art (now Nottingham Trent University). As well as exhibitions at the Camden Arts Centre and Serpentine Gallery, a retrospective of my work took place in 2009 at Derby Museum and Art Gallery.
