Studio: is generally open to visitors every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Refreshments: always warm drinks and usually something sweet (and Cafe nearby). Partial Wheelchair Access: lower level fully wheelchair accessible with accessible toilet – upper mezzanine not wheelchair accessible.
This art is about making space, creating in community, finding joy and feeling human!
After a long walk away from video game design, Martin came to work with his partner as a participatory artist for 12 or more years – peripatetically making art alongside people, in Derbyshire and Nottingham, and all over the country.
Then, deep grief, forgetting everything, and a big wood carving commission that went tremendously wrong but amazingly right at the same time.
‘By Our Hands We Make Our Way’ is a perpetually open studio, notionally Martin’s, but really made by the folks who call in to talk, carve, sit, sing, make, play, dance, draw, whittle and share. Anyone is welcome.
