ABOUT MARTHA HENTON (HILDA AND CLARICE)

Hello, I’m Martha – owner and designer of Hilda & Clarice. I design, print and hand finish luxury Fashion and Interior Accessories. Silk Scarves, Headbands, and Make Up Bags all within the UK on the finest fabrics.

Designs are beautifully colourful and unique, playing with historical and local inspiration. Products are all hand finished to the highest quality by myself in my studio in Mansfield.

Previously I have worked as a designer of silk ties for Mantero Seta (Italy) and Osborne and Little (Liberty Furnishings). I have worked as a Lecturer BA Textiles and BA Contemporary Crafts at Plymouth College of Art.

MARTHA HENTON (HILDA AND CLARICE) – STUDIO

My studio is a small corner at the side of my kitchen overlooking my garden. It provides me with space for designing and for my new Singer sewing machine. I have a large mirror propped up on my work table so I can always look at the garden and feel inspired.

Ahead of physically opening her studio to visitors on 25-26 June, here is a glimpse of Martha’s studio.

MARTHA HENTON (HILDA AND CLARICE) – WORK

My work takes inspiration from lots of sources often historical, local artefacts and architecture. I work from original drawings and photographs and develop my designs using digital apps and photoshop to create work that has an element of history yet is contemporary in design. They are all then digitally printed onto the finest fabrics and hand finished m=by myself in my studio.
