ABOUT JULIE FOWKES

Julie Fowkes FlyerI live in Nottinghamshire and create from my home in a small studio in our cottage garden. I have always had a passion for art and studied Art and Printmaking at school, I then went to Leicester Polytechnic to study on an Art and Design foundation course. After which I went on to specialise in Graphic Design at Norwich School of Art.

I worked for a Nottingham design agency for 12 years, and freelanced for 3 years. I have since studied and worked as a garden designer and watercolour artist. I set up a small art business Rose Cottage Design and currently practise watercolours, felt art and printing. I have been a member of the Nottingham Society of Artists and exhibited in their galley. I now show my work at several craft and artisan events such as Patchings Art Centre. I teach local art groups and run felt making workshop.

JULIE FOWKES STUDIO

I have a small studio in our cottage garden. It has all I need, a desk with light, a hanging wall for my framed art and plenty of storage. I have use of the garage also for my eco printing.

JULIE FOWKES WORK

My watercolours are loose, etherial and atmospheric. I love colour and create paintings of landscape, floral, still life and animals. I also ‘paint’ with fibre , creating felt art pictures embellished with stitching and beads to create texture. My eco printing is based on my love of nature and what subtle colours and shapes it can reveal to me.
