ABOUT JUDE RAWSON

I have always had a passion for art and was never far away from a drawing pad as a child. As a young adult I was entranced by the work of the Pre-Raphaelites and, as I couldn’t afford the originals, taught myself to paint in their style.

In recent years I have also enjoyed working in watercolour and have found the buildings and countryside around my home in Upton quite an inspiration.

Since moving to this area in 2005 I have had exhibitions at both the Gilstrap Centre and the Newark Museum. I am currently part of the Upton Artists taking part in the Nottinhamshire Open Studios.

JUDE RAWSON – STUDIO

I mainly paint in my summerhouse which overlooks my favourite rose garden. I keep all my artist paraphernalia in there including an antique pine desk and an easel purpose built for large oil paintings. At my open studio, my work will displayed in the studio and the two reception rooms of the cottage.

JUDE RAWSON – WORK

I am a painter who works in oil, acrylic and watercolour. My landscapes are primarily inspired by the surrounding buildings and countryside. My portraits often have a romantic feel and I also enjoy doing rather whimsical animal paintings.
