ABOUT CAROLINE LE SUEUR

I am a contemporary, abstract painter working primarily in acrylics, living in Nottingham. My background is in psychology and I worked for 12 years as a psychotherapist. I bring deep meaning to my paintings which are personal reflections and expressions of my experiences. During the first lockdown I began painting, having previously explored different forms of printing. Painting felt immediate, spontaneous and freeing. My first exhibition was in November 2021 at Hartley Creatives Open Studios.

CAROLINE LE SUEUR – STUDIO

My studio is a large, bright space in an old paper mill. There is plenty of room to spread out and experiment. I hang my canvasses on the wall to paint, rotating them to gain new perspectives and sometimes work on the floor when pouring paint.

CAROLINE LE SUEUR – WORK

I am a process painter where a finished piece emerges and develops as I work. I scrape, rub, scratch, and pour, working in layers getting the paint down fast. I now have something to react to. I then decide what to leave, cover, accentuate and what I want to communicate.
