Now based in the small farming village of Upton where I grew up, I did manage to move away for a short time to university where I studied Fine Art and the History of Art in Oxford Brookes. Following this I returned to Nottinghamshire and worked at Rufford Art Gallery for about a year, before going back to university to study museums and galleries at Nottingham Trent University. I then took the big step of moving out of our family farm, to my own farm cottage down the road with my lovely new husband who shares my love of animals – in particular dogs. After completely filling the house with dog imagery, he convinced me to start sharing my paintings with the rest of the world.

My studio is in our spare bedroom! I currently work while our baby sleeps, or while he has a biscuit.

ELSA RICKETT-TRUEMAN – WORK

I paint dogs! I have two paintings styles, both of which I love but are quite different – although one grew from the other so they are linked. I have always had a love of Pop Art, and my interest in this was the catalyst for developing my very bright, blocky dogs on striking red backgrounds. My other style is a midpoint between my Pop Art dogs and my drawings. These dogs have a much more illustrative feel.
