Living in an eco-house, you might find me mowing the roof, tending the carrots or shearing the sheep. Inspiration from the environment shapes my artwork which I do alongside work as a graphic designer and illustrator for a heritage consultancy. I have worked as a freelance illustrator for over 25 years mainly in the fields of children’s publishing, greeting cards and editorial. Over 2.5 million of my BusyBugz books have been sold worldwide and translated into 14 different languages. One picture book was featured on BBC Jackanory and I have received various awards for others.

BILL BOLTON – STUDIO

My studio is an office space in Trebeck Hall in the centre of Southwell, convenient for coffee and inspirational breaks! An airy, whitewashed interior with high ceilings. I sketch at my desk on my drawing board, paint traditionally at my easel and use my Mac for digital artwork.

Open Studio: 29-31 May (BH), 10 to 5. To include: Demonstrations of working methods and process.
♦  Very close to cafes and other facilities.
  ♦  No Wheelchair Access.

BILL BOLTON – WORK

A collection of digital watercolour paintings with the theme of bird puns. I start with pencil sketches and then scan them into my computer. I have tried to capture some humorous situations while being as true (anatomically) to the birds themselves. Occasionally I paint in traditional oils.
