ABOUT JUDY STEVENSON

I am a retired dentist & took up pottery 7 years ago. I went to an excellent class run by Rachel Wood & decided to set up my own studio. I make thrown & hand built stoneware pots – tableware, decorative items & necklaces. I use commercial glazes but try to make the surface of my pots interesting. My pots are fired in an electric kiln. I love the challenge of learning new techniques & strive to make better pots!

JUDY STEVENSON – STUDIO

My studio is a few yards from my house. It is a wooden single garage. It has windows down one side so that I can look at the garden while I am working. I had the walls & ceiling insulated & have a heater so that I can work there in the winter too! There is room for my Kiln & potter’s wheel & lots of pots.

JUDY STEVENSON – WORK

I make thrown & hand built pots in stoneware clay. Mainly table ware, & decorative items – also stoneware bead necklaces. I use commercial glazes & try to make the surface of my pots interesting. The pots are fired in an electric kiln.
