The Dovecot is planning an Open Studio event for 5-6 June, 10 to 5 (see below for more information).

The Dovecot will be showing work by a number of artists making Sculpture, Drawing, Painting and Printmaking including work by Hilary Cartmel, Michael Johnson and guests artists.

Hilary Cartmel and Michael Johnson both studied Fine Art in Nottingham in the late 1970s. They have lived and worked at Poplars Farm for almost 30 years creating over 250 public art projects and private commissions in these studios. Artworks are sited from Exeter to London to Edinburgh and from County Wicklow to the East Coast. Both artists also draw, paint and print-make and some of this work will also be on show.

THE DOVECOT – SETTING

Poplars Farm has a series of brick and stone barns dating back to the 1740s which provide the artists with a number of working spaces. It includes a restored 18th century dovecot.

ACTIVITIES

Open Studio: 5-6 June, 10 to 5

  • No wheelchair access – but the garden is accessible to wheelchairs.
  • Cake and tea and coffee.

Michael Johnson - Dish 2020This Open Studio event will feature work by by Ann Everitt, Helen Tucker, Ann Robbins, Hilary Cartmel and Michael Johnson – sculpture (in metals, stainless steel, steel and bronze), painting, ceramics, drawing and printmaking.

We shall be running a series of workshops run by visiting artists and serving tea & cake. You will also be able to enjoy our 18th century Dovecot and garden. Visit our website for details and to take part in the workshops.
